Administer

Spiritual gifts:  Administration, Knowledge, Leadership

It is clear that pastors are to "devote [them]selves steadfastly to prayer and the ministry of the Word" (Acts 6:4b).  This is made possible by delegating works of administration and service to certain members of the church.  At Petaluma Valley Baptist Church, there are many areas that require administration, as outlined in our Bylaws. (To see Bylaws, please Login and then go to Members / Governance.)

You may have this gift if you like to help meetings run smoothly; you like to work collaboratively in a team toward consensus and unity; you like to draw out ideas and opinions so that all ideas get aired and considered; or you have an interest in governance or process to aid in effective decision making.

Administration may involve a wide range of different types of service, such as:

  • Attending or leading effective meetings
  • Performing research
  • Planning events
  • Designing and delivering communication
  • Tending a table to answer questions
  • Oganizing or recruiting volunteers
  • Making copies
  • Distributing flyers
  • Preparing budgets
  • Analyzing finances
  • Completing other tasks as needed

 Committees and Roles:

  • Moderator
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Nominating
  • Missions and Evangelism
  • Personnel
  • Stewardship
  • Facilities
  • Worship
  • Children's Ministry
  • Youth Ministry
  • Adult/College Ministry
  • Men's Ministry
  • Women's Ministry
  • Senior's Ministry
  • Search (when needed)

If you wish to find out more about how the church is organized and administered, you can:

If God has gifted you for Administration, the first step is to volunteer to a member of the Nominating Committee.  They will discuss with you the duties and expectations for the available roles, and pray with you to identify the best place for you to exercise your gifts.  Please submit a volunteer form and a member of this committee will contact you to discuss.
