October 21th Message: Experiencing Abundance, Part Five, John 10:10

If you want to understand the heart of God…the character of God…the nature of God…in short, if you want to “get God right”…then it’s essential to understand that He’s a God of abundance. God doesn’t have a limited supply of anything. God doesn’t have to be measured in any way for fear of running out of some essential resource. God can afford to be lavish in all ways because He is abundant in all ways. Everything He is and everything He has, He is and has in abundance. This is one of the great truths that we’ve been trying to wrap our minds around through the course of this most recent series of messages. - More

October 14th Message: Experiencing Abundance, Part Four, John 10:10

During our recently concluded men’s mission trip to Mexico, God poured out one blessing after another on us. Last Sunday, I told you the story of Lupita and her family and the amazing testimony she shared with us about the way that God used the house we built for her 6 years ago, to transform her entire neighborhood, leading many people to faith in Christ. What a blessing it was to hear Lupita’s testimony.

The next day, I was similarly blessed through an equally amazing testimony shared with me by our missionary hosts in Mexico, Tim and Kathy Johnston. Like most missionaries, Tim and Kathy live very simply as their income is quite modest. Consequently, I was intrigued by the Toyota Prius sitting at their house and I asked them about it. Kathy told me this amazing story. - More

October 7th Message: Experiencing Abundance, Part Three, John 10:10

Most of you know that a group of our men have recently returned from our latest mission trip to Mexico. While we were there, we built 2 homes and did an “Extreme Home Makeover” of a third. As He always does, God blessed us in ways we never could have anticipated.

As is our tradition, we had dinner on our first night in Mexico at our favorite roadside taco stand, Poblanos (don my hat). Mid-way through the dinner, a young man came running up to our group. I recognized him immediately. Jesus, now 16 years old, and his family were the recipients of one of the very first homes we built in Mexico 6 years ago. He had learned from our missionary friends that we were coming to town and he had come to the taco stand to see us. - More

September 23th Message: Experiencing Abundance, Part Two, John 10:10

Let’s begin this morning with a little audience participation. Here’s how it’s going to work. I’m going to give you some incomplete sentences and I want you to complete them out loud so that we can all hear them. All right?
First sentence: My best friend is a person of great ________________.
Second sentence: I hope that I am known as a person of great _____________.
Third sentence: My Heavenly Father is a God of great _________________. There are obviously lots of different ways to complete that sentence and if you were with us last week as I began this new series of messages, you’ll know that one of the words that fits perfectly at the end of that sentence is the word, “abundance.” My Heavenly Father is a God of great abundance. - More

September 16th Message: Experiencing Abundance, Part One, John 10:10

Most of you know that my daughter, Jordan, is away at college and, in fact, has just begun her senior year at Vanguard University. One of the things that means is that my wife and I have now been empty nesters for 3 years. Another thing that means is that I have now learned that even though she is out of the house she is never far from “the bank of dad.” Consequently, I could not suppress a shudder of dread when, while checking my voicemail a couple of weeks ago, I heard this message from my daughter—“Dad, call me back as soon as you can. I’ve found a way to save you a ton of money!” I knew that couldn’t be good because, to this point in time, every time she has come up with an idea to “save me money,” I somehow end up with less of it. It’s now been three weeks since that phone call and, so far, I’m down a grand. I’m really looking forward to the day when those phone calls finally end. (Does that ever happen? Please, somebody tell me it will happen.) - More
